Plastic bags are terrible for the planet. Plastic bags need to be recycled much more. In 2000 only 1% of them were recycled which needs to change. To help change this we need to recycle much more or buy reusable bags. Also, it is better to use paper bags than plastic bags.
Plastic bags can not be the main choice at stores anymore. We need to either start using paper bags (which is better than plastic). I really think that the best things is if everyone buys a few reusable bags. Take the bags back and forth with you when you go to the store. Therefore there is less plastic and paper being used.

How concerned are you about GW?
Are you doing anything to save the planet? If so, what?
What are you willing to change in your life style to help stop GW?
(recycle, change lightbulbs, etc…)
If you recycle, what type of item do you recycle?
Are you aware of how the future might be if we do not try to help now?
Do you believe that there is enough awareness?
(how were you made aware?)
What types of solutions have you heard of?
Do you believe that there is enough awareness of solutions?
What do you see people doing in your neighborhood to end GW?
Why do u think people have not started to help prevent GW?
Where do you think the focus of GW funds should be on?
What part of GW should be looked and researched the most in order to prevent it?
Do you think that any one nation or group should try to prevent GW more any others?
If you had 1 billion dollars, what would you do with it if you could only use it for the prevention GW?

St. Louis Zoo: Library and Teacher Resource Center
Dear Mrs. Gordon,
My name is Jill and I go to Parkway North. In my English class, we are making a documentary about Global Warming. We are trying to get people aware of the effects of Global Warming and therefore tell people about ways they can help. Since you work at the St. Louis Zoo, I was wondering if I could contact you to get some more information through an interview. The main questions that I am to find information about is how everyday people can help the planet. Therefore Please contact me at _____.

I have learned about how much this topic (global warming) is affecting things in the world. I learned that it is causing problems to the animals, weather, and water levels. Since I have learned about all the problems that global warming is causing, I am happy to be in the group “what do we do about it”. I have learned that we all must work together to really make a difference in the world. If we all work together then the problem will be solved much sooner. From doing some research, I have read that it really is not that hard for people to make changes to help the planet. Some examples are changing the types of lights, recycle/reuse things, and to unplug things that are not being used. I find it interesting to read that the Hollywood stars have a big role in getting people involved. Therefore, I would like to research more about what stars are doing to get the word out about global warming.

This article gives ways that we need to follow to help save the planet. One is to use renewable energy in every house in the US. Another idea is to get children outside so that they will enjoy and therefore care for the planet. Malaria is occuring more due to the cutting down of trees. Malaria and other diseases are affecting too many people in the world. Another idea is to get people involved. Hollywood has helped with movies and stars talking about this problem. People need to realize that little helpful things will help in the long-run (such as cleaning goods).
This gives many great ways and reasons why we all need to help the planet. If people change little things in their homes, then it is better then doing nothing. Also, I agree that Hollywood stars are great help for getting the word out about global warming.

The world must find ways to use less oil and fuel. We have to use renewable energy. This article says that 2% of the energy in the US is renewable energy. Also, the fuels are causing problems with carbon dioxide. The transportation in the US causes carbon dioxide problems. If we solve the problem with the transportation then the planet and the people ($) would be helped.
The US really needs to increase the amount of renewable energy. It is terrible to see that only 2% of the energy is renewable energy. Also, the carbon dioxide problem from the energy needs to be solved by changing the cars people drive. I think cars should be changed because it would help slow global warming and people would not have to spend so much money on gas.
